BYD Atto 2 in the Philippines: EV or DM-i? How to Choose Between the Two Versions

By BYDPH.org editorial · version 1 · Nov 03, 2026 · older version (current)

The BYD Atto 2 launched in the Philippines in July 2026 as a fully electric model and a plug-in hybrid DM-i. This guide compares what has been reported about each, flags where sources disagree, and helps you decide which suits your driving and charging setup.

BYD Cars Philippines launched the Atto 2 on July 28, 2026 in two forms: a fully electric version and a plug-in hybrid called the DM-i. Here is what has been reported about each, where the published figures disagree, and how to choose based on how you drive and where you can charge.

What launched

The Atto 2 is BYD's smallest and most affordable crossover in the Philippines. It is a compact five-seater, about 4.3 metres long according to Singapore reporting. It comes in three variants: one EV, and two DM-i plug-in hybrids (Dynamic and Premium). Philippine reports say all of them use BYD's Blade Battery.

The two versions side by side

Atto 2 EV

  • Single electric motor driving the front wheels, reported at 174 hp and 290 Nm.
  • 41.1 kWh battery, with a reported range of up to 380 km on a single charge.
  • Reported to offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), which lets the car battery power appliances.
  • Colors include Breeze Green, which is reported as exclusive to the EV.

Atto 2 DM-i (plug-in hybrid)

  • A 1.5-litre gasoline engine plus one electric motor, reported at 162 hp and 300 Nm.
  • A much smaller 7.9 kWh battery, with a reported electric-only range of up to 45 km.
  • Cosmos Black is reported as exclusive to the DM-i.
  • Only the top DM-i Premium is reported to get BYD's DiPilot driver-assistance suite.

Prices

Suggested retail prices reported at launch:

  • Atto 2 DM-i Dynamic: from ₱1,048,000
  • Atto 2 DM-i Premium: ₱1,258,000
  • Atto 2 EV: ₱1,338,000

Introductory prices were reported for July 28 to August 31, 2026 (₱998,000 for the DM-i Dynamic, ₱1,208,000 for the DM-i Premium, ₱1,288,000 for the EV), with the suggested prices taking effect on September 1. Those introductory prices have ended, so check current prices with a dealer.

Where reports disagree

Published figures differ, so treat these as unconfirmed until you see BYD's own documents:

  • Combined range of the DM-i. One report puts it at 1,045 km. Another, citing an efficiency test with the Automobile Association of the Philippines, says 1,340 km.
  • Touchscreen size. One report says 12.8 inches across the range. Another says the EV has 12.8 inches and the hybrids 10.1 inches.
  • Warranty. One launch report lists 160,000 km for the vehicle and battery warranties, while other BYD Philippines coverage lists 150,000 km for some items. Read the warranty booklet before relying on any number.

How to choose (editorial analysis)

This part is our interpretation of the reported specs, not BYD advice.

Choose the EV if you can charge at home or at work most days, your daily driving is well within the reported range, and you want the lowest running cost. The 41.1 kWh battery is large enough that charging speed matters. A household socket with the portable cable is slow, so many EV owners look at a wall charger. Ask your dealer what charger comes with the Atto 2 you are buying, because we could not confirm this for the Atto 2.

Choose the DM-i if you want one car for long trips without planning around chargers, or if you cannot reliably charge at home. The battery is small, so a plug-in session does not take long. As a rough estimate only, a 7.9 kWh battery on a socket delivering around 2 kW would take about four hours, before charging losses. The engine covers longer drives. A plug-in hybrid driven without ever charging uses fuel for everything.

Think about your parking spot. If you park in a condo or a spot far from a socket, read our guides on charging a BYD from a 220V outlet and why not to use an extension cord with the portable charger before you buy.

Questions to ask the dealer

  • Which charger comes with the exact variant, and does the offer include installation?
  • What is the maximum AC charging power of each version?
  • How is V2L offered, and on which variants?
  • What are the exact warranty terms for the vehicle, drive unit and battery?
  • What are the current prices and any promos?
