What Does Your BYD Warranty Cover in the Philippines? What to Check and Ask Your Dealer

By BYDPH.org editorial · version 1 · Nov 03, 2026

Published BYD warranty terms in the Philippines are broadly similar, but some figures differ between sources, for example 150,000 km versus 160,000 km. This guide sets out what has been reported and what to confirm in your warranty booklet.

Philippine press and BYD Cars Philippines describe a general warranty plus longer cover for the battery and the electric motor. The numbers are close but not identical across sources, so this guide sets out what has been published and what to confirm in your own warranty booklet.

What has been reported for the Philippines

We could not open a BYD Cars Philippines warranty page. The figures below come from press coverage, some of it based on BYD Philippines announcements and some sponsored. Each source says it applies to BYD vehicles sold by ACMobility, but model and date differ.

  • Vehicle (bumper-to-bumper): reported as 6 years or 150,000 km in coverage from 2024 (Autocar Philippines, Unbox PH, Carmudi on the Sealion 5 DM-i) and in a June 2026 sponsored Top Gear Philippines piece. A launch report on the Atto 2 in August 2026 gave 6 years or 160,000 km.
  • Electric motor or drive unit: reported as 8 years or 150,000 km in most coverage. The Atto 2 launch report says eight years for the drive unit.
  • Blade Battery: reported as 8 years or 160,000 km in most 2024 coverage, but as 8 years or 150,000 km in a 2024 BYD Cars Philippines blog and in the June 2026 sponsored piece.

So the likely picture is 6 years for the vehicle and 8 years for the motor and battery. The kilometre limits (150,000 versus 160,000) are not consistent. The limit that applies to you is the one in your own warranty booklet.

Other markets are different

BYD's global pages for other countries show that terms vary by market. For example, BYD's Spain page lists the battery as 8 years or 250,000 km with a stated minimum battery health, while a BYD page for Kenya lists 8 years or 150,000 km. Do not assume any other country's terms apply in the Philippines.

What a warranty usually does and does not cover

The following comes from BYD's global policy pages for other markets, so ask whether it applies to you:

  • The warranty period is counted from the date the authorized seller issued the purchase invoice, and ends at the date or kilometre limit, whichever comes first.
  • Damage or performance problems caused by non-genuine spare parts may not be covered.
  • Modifications to the vehicle may affect coverage.

Normal wear items are generally treated differently from defects, but the exact list is in the booklet.

Questions to ask your dealer, in writing

  1. What are the exact terms for the vehicle, the drive unit and the battery, in years and kilometres, for my model and variant?
  2. When does coverage start: the invoice date, the registration date or the delivery date?
  3. Does the battery warranty include a minimum capacity guarantee, and how is it tested?
  4. Which items are excluded as wear and tear?
  5. Do aftermarket parts, chargers, accessories or modifications affect any part of the warranty?
  6. Where must servicing be done to keep the warranty valid, and are service records required?
  7. Is roadside assistance included, and for how long? A 2026 sponsored piece mentions free 24/7 roadside assistance, but we could not confirm the duration.
  8. Is the warranty transferable if I sell the car?

Practical tips

  • Keep your invoice, the warranty booklet and all service records together.
  • Use your charger as the manual says. Our guides on portable charger safety and extension cords explain what to avoid.
  • If something fails, contact an authorized BYD service center rather than a third party, and ask what is documented as covered.
  • Do not rely on advertisements or social media posts for warranty terms.
